Modelling fracturing process using cohesive interface elements: theoretical verification and experimental validation

چکیده

The tensile strength estimated from the Brazilian test on brittle materials is highly dependent contact topology between sample and loading platens. Common topologies such as flat-to-point, arch-to-arch flat-to-flat contacts have been proposed in literature. By employing cohesive interface elements (CIEs), a finite element method (FEM) developed this paper to explore fracture behaviour of samples using different topologies. feasibility adopting CIEs verified theoretically crack extension validated experimentally test. A mesh sensitivity parametric study are performed for model calibration. simulation results demonstrated good performance agreement with range experimental data terms stress–strain curves, strain distribution, initiation propagation, strength. Based numerical results, it concluded that preferred due its initiates at centre disc propagates toward top bottom, without any compression failure ends. This provides new conceptual framework promising way assess

Automated Validation and Verification of Process Models

In process programming, processes are modeled as pieces of software, and a process programming language is used to specify the process. Such a language resembles a conventional programming language, providing constructs such as iteration and selection. This approach allows models to be simulated and enacted easily. However, it also suffers from the same problems that plague traditional programm...

Continued process verification methods in cleaning validation

The U.S. FDA [1] process validation guidance document released in 2011 increased the emphasis on continued process verification: “ongoing assurance is gained during routine production that the process remains in a state of control”. Until recently, in a washing system, conductivity analysis was the only on-line method used to monitor the quality of the final rinse water. Now, developments in th...

Modelling of cold extrusion with experimental verification

This paper reports on an experimental and finite element analysis (FEA) of the cold extrusion of high-grade (AA1100) aluminium. The influence of die angle, reduction ratio and die land on the extrusion force during the extrusion process was investigated. A forward extrusion die was designed and manufactured for the purpose of the experimental research. Interchangeable elements of the extrusion ...

Parallel Simulations of Dynamic Fracture Using Extrinsic Cohesive Elements

In this paper, we present a novel parallel implementation of extrinsic initially rigid cohesive elements in an explicit finite element solver designed for the simulation of dynamic fracture events. The implementation is based on activating instead of inserting the cohesive elements and uses ParFUM, a parallel framework specifically developed for simulations involving unstructured meshes. Aspect...

Theoretical analysis and experimental verification on optical rotational Doppler effect.

We present a theoretical model to sufficiently investigate the optical rotational Doppler effect based on modal expansion method. We find that the frequency shift content is only determined by the surface of spinning object and the reduced Doppler shift is linear to the difference of mode index between input and output orbital angular momentum (OAM) light, and linear to the rotating speed of sp...
